Last week the Metro West Council of Governments honored Mike Fortner as the Legislator of the Year as reported in the Daily Herald [3]. Metro West represents communities in Kane, Kendall, and DeKalb counties, and was formed a few years ago to help coordinate issues and ideas common to the fast growing western suburbs. Representative Fortner was a charter member of Metro West when he served as Mayor of West Chicago. It gives him particular pride to be the first recipient of this award from a group he helped to found.
