Rauner Restores $26 Million in Public Health Funding

Springfield, IL…Today, Governor Rauner restored $26 million in funding to crucial state programs provided by the Department of Human Services and Department of Public Health.

“I am very pleased to see Governor Rauner restore funding back to Human Services and Public Health. Considering the state’s budget totals are in the billions, $26 million in funding cuts wouldn't bring solvency to its current financial crisis. That being said, cuts of this magnitude targeting specific programs would have been detrimental to Illinois families in need of assistance or even effected by epilepsy or autism illnesses,” said Fortner. “To get Illinois out of its fiscal hole, it is important to spend within our means. With recent additional revenue, the state has the ability to restore funding to agency services, which is why I am encouraged by the Governors compassionate understanding to restore the funding to needed programs for Illinois families.”
